Environment Bank is pioneering a market-led solution to biodiversity loss. With legislative changes making Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) mandatory for developers, they needed a brand that clearly articulated their expertise, credibility, and impact. Their challenge was to evolve from building and educating the market to fully commercialising their offer and going to market with a customer-centric approach.

Defining a clear market position
As the UK’s only national provider of both BNG units and Nature Shares, Environment Bank needed a brand that clearly communicated their leadership and credibility.

Through in-depth competitor analysis and workshops, we articulated a positioning centred on accelerating biodiversity recovery through science-led, commercially viable solutions. This led to the strapline: “The biodiversity experts”.

Repositioning to support growth
Environment Bank had moved from the first phase of securing and creating habitat banks, to taking the solution to market. This meant reorienting the business from its sole focus on landowners to focus on its core commercial customers, namely developers and corporates.

Distinctive messaging for a diverse audience
To engage multiple stakeholders – from developers and landowners to policymakers and investors – we created tailored key messages that aligned with their motivations.

Our work simplified complex environmental legislation into clear, actionable benefits, ensuring developers saw compliance as seamless and landowners understood the financial opportunity of biodiversity units.

A bold visual identity with a purpose
The new brand identity moves away from the generic environmental imagery used by competitors. Instead, we developed a fresh, modern look inspired by nature’s structure and regeneration. The colour palette, typography, and photography balance authority with warmth, reinforcing Environment Bank’s role as a trusted leader in biodiversity solutions.

Ready to go to market
To support Environment Bank go to market, we collaborated with the sales and marketing team on the creation of two extensive marketing playbooks, for its Biodiversity and new Nature Shares solutions. The playbooks contain tailored messaging for each market segment, case studies, infographics and practical information to help prospective customers navigate the new planning requirements.
